This year marks 21 years of decorative concrete work in the Austin metro. Twenty-one years of grinding, polishing, coating, staining, and resurfacing — exclusively decorative concrete, exclusively on existing slabs.

We’re using the milestone year to consolidate everything under one name: Austin Concrete Finishes. Same crew, same equipment, same prep standards, same owner-operator approach. The new name reflects what we actually do — decorative finishing of existing concrete — rather than implying new pours we don’t take on.

## What’s stayed the same

Three things have anchored the business since 2005 and aren’t changing:

1.  **Specialist focus.** Decorative concrete only — polishing, coatings, staining, overlays, countertops. Not general flatwork, not foundations, not new pours.
2.  **Prep first, every time.** Diamond grinding to a real surface profile. Crack repair before any finish goes down. Moisture testing when the slab calls for it. The prep is what makes finishes last through Texas heat.
3.  **Owner-operator quoting and oversight.** You talk to the same person who runs the job. No bait-and-switch sales process.

## What’s changed

The service area has gradually expanded over the years. We now serve the full Austin metro — Travis, Williamson, and Hays counties — from West Lake Hills to Buda and most cities in between.

The service mix has also broadened. 

Polished concrete

 have largely replaced epoxy alone for outdoor and high-UV applications.

 became a low-competition niche worth doubling down on.

 — shower walls, vertical overlays, terrazzo, custom furniture — has grown into a real share of the business.
