## Our Approach to Resurfacing

Resurfacing restores cracked or worn driveways, patios, and pool decks at a fraction of replacement cost. We repair cracks, address the Central Texas clay-soil movement behind them, and bond a durable overlay on top. (We restore existing concrete — no structural leveling or new pours.)

## Restore, don’t replace

A worn or cracked slab doesn’t have to be torn out. If it’s structurally sound, resurfacing gives you a new, durable, good-looking surface at a fraction of replacement cost. We restore driveways, patios, pool decks, and walkways across the Austin metro.

## Cracks come from clay soil — work with it, not against it

Central Texas clay expands and shrinks every wet-dry cycle, and that movement telegraphs into surface cracks. The fix isn’t to ignore the cracks (they come back) or to pour a rigid topping (it cracks too). The fix is a crack-bridging elastomeric membrane and a polymer-modified overlay that lets the slab move underneath without showing through on top.

## Scope: finishing, not structural

We resurface, not replace, and we don’t pour new slabs or do structural slab leveling, mudjacking, or pier work. If your slab has serious settlement or heaving, you’ll need a foundation contractor before we resurface. We’ll tell you that on the quote.

FAQ

## Resurfacing: Your Questions Answered

When should I resurface instead of replace? +

If the slab is structurally sound and the issue is surface cracking, spalling, or wear, resurfacing typically costs a fraction of replacement and looks just as good. We'll tell you honestly if a slab is too far gone.

Will the cracks come back? +

Not through the new overlay if we use a crack-bridging membrane and let the underlying slab move. We can't stop clay-soil movement, but we can keep it from telegraphing through.

How long does resurfacing take? +

Most residential projects are 1 to 3 days. The overlay is walkable within 24 hours.

Guides

## Resurfacing Guides & Answers

### How Thick Is a Concrete Resurfacing Overlay?

Most resurfacing overlays are 1/8 to 1/2 inch thick. Self-levelers can build deeper. Stamped overlays add another 1/4 to 3/8 inch.

### Why Central Texas Clay Soil Cracks Slabs (and the Fix)

Expansive clay moves with every wet-dry cycle. Surface cracks are inevitable. Crack-bridging overlays handle the movement without telegraphing through.

### Can Cracked Concrete Be Resurfaced Instead of Replaced?

Usually yes — if the slab is structurally sound. Resurfacing handles surface cracks at a fraction of replacement cost.

### Resurfacing vs Replacing Your Concrete

Resurface for cost and speed when the slab is structurally sound. Replace when the slab is moving or unsalvageable. Here's how to tell.
